Factors Affecting the Demand for Crude Oil Economic activity: Economic activity can be a very important factor in determining the demand for crude oil. The demand for crude oil increases when there is an increase in economic activity. Policies like taxes on fuels and taxes on motor vehicles cab restrict domestic and global demand for oil.
